Visit Largs and the surrounding villages and stay in bed & breakfast accommodation:

Largs, North Ayrshire. A bustling holiday resort and sailing centre on the Firth of Clyde, near the northern boundary of Ayrshire, Largs is, to those fond of cruising in sheltered waters, an ideal base. From it steamers ply to all the piers of the Clyde, and beyond to Loch Fyne and the Kilbrennan Sound. Sheltered by the Island of Cumbrae, it has a safe anchorage for all craft. Near the town is the scene of the Battle of Largs, in which, on an October day of storm in 1263, Alexander III and his Western levies slaughtered the survivors of the battered Viking fleet, torn from its moorings at Arran. Largs looks back to this turning-point of history with pride. To the visitor, Largs appears to be a much-churched place; but this impression is perhaps illusory, and has arisen because the town is tightly hemmed in, between the 1,500-ft escarpment on the East and the sea. The Inverclyde National Recreation centre run by the Scottish Council for Physical Recreation is situated nearby.
