Visit Millport and the surrounding villages and stay in bed & breakfast accommodation:

Millport, North Ayrshire, is on the Island of Great Cumbrae. This holiday village rose as a resort in the late 18th century, when the harbour was built and a ferry to Laros provided. After 1833, when a steamer service started, the town grew as a holiday resort. Millport also had a quarry, a grain-mill, and hand-looms, and local women were well known for their embroidery. The residents now include many retired people.

The Episcopal church, built in 1851 by the Earl of Glasgow, was made the Cathedral of the Isles in 1876, which position it held for a short time.
