Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire. This old-world town, with its growing residential population, has many 16th century cottages and delightful houses.
In its centre is its brick Market House with open arcades where in former days a weekly market was held. Crowning the roof is a turret with a clock and bell. Vine House, a Tudor building very close to Market House, is gabled with herringbone brickwork and has a vine tree growing up it.
The Manor House, with its plastered front, is of 18th century origin. It has a beautiful Jacobean oak staircase and 18th century Wainscoting.
The Norman Church of St Mary's, which was heavily restored in the 13th and 14th centuries, has a modern spire. It still possesses a Norman window and in the south aisle is a lovely triple lancet window. The pulpit was carved in the time of the Restoration.
