Chinnor, Oxfordshire, lies under the shelter of the Chiltern woods, just off the A40, a few minutes' drive out of Thame. It possesses a moated manor house and a Decorated church which contains two beautiful l4th-century stained-glass windows, their greens, yellows and browns still brilliant, superbly leaded and depicting among other subjects St Lawrence and the proto-martyr St Alban. The early brasses are among the best in the country. Particularly fine is that of Reginald de Malyns, 1385, and some depicting vested priests are among the earliest extant. The carvings on the mouldings are also outstanding.
