Uig, Isle of Skye, is the name of a glen, a bay, a village, and a small port on the Island of Skye in the Inner Hebrides. On the West side of the Trotternish northern peninsula of Skye stands this picturesque little Hebridean hamlet. In history, it is noted as the spot at which Prince Charles Edward Stuart first touched Skye when he fled from the “Long Island” disguised as Betty Bourke, Flora Macdonald's maidservant. Today, Uig has come into prominence as the place from which motor-car ferries leave for the Outer Hebrides.
