March, Cambridgeshire. At the centre of the network of railways linking the Fens to the surrounding counties, the town is particularly famous for its church, St Wendreda's, at the south end of the town in Church Street. The most spectacular feature of the church is the roof, one of the most quoted and photographed of all East Anglian church interiors. It is of double hammer-beam construction with, on every conceivable vantage point, finely carved angels spreading their wings.
There are few other buildings of interest in the town but a small, former Guild Hall, rebuilt as a school in 1827, now a store, should be noted.
