Highworth, Wiltshire. Set 400 ft above sea-level, the town commands magnificent views over three counties. Some of the buildings are attractive and date from the 17th and 18th centuries. The church tower still bears the mark of a cannon-ball which struck it during the Civil War. Inside is an interesting and curious memento. For there, on display, is the tattered tunic worn by some medieval knight long ago. Of the villages nearby, perhaps Castle Eaton on the River Thames is the most attractive.
Adjacent cities/towns/villages: Ampney St. Mary, Ampney St. Peter, Bampton, Black Bourton, Blunsdon St. Andrew, Broad Blunsdon, Castle Eaton, Clanfield, Cricklade, Down Ampney, Eastleach Martin, Fairford, Faringdon, Filkins, Grafton, Hannington, Kempsford, Lechlade, Liddington, Little Coxwell, Little Hinton, Longcot, Lydiard Millicent, Lydiard Tregoze, Marston Meysey, Meysey Hampton, Purton, Purton Stoke, Quenington, Shrivenham, South Marston, Southrop, Stanton Fitzwarren, Stratton St. Margare, Swindon, Uffington, Upper Stratton, Weald, Whelford, Woolstone, Wroughton
