Bognor Regis, West Sussex, was one of the early watering-places by the sea. It became fashionable with royalty and the aristocracy in the late 18th century, and to Queen Victoria it was her “dear little Bognor”; there is much architecture here dating from those days. Sand and shingle beaches provide ideal bathing.
Felpham, only 1 mile distant, is a little village that has kept some of its country charm and a number of thatched-roof cottages. The church is a mixture of architectural styles and still shows traces of its Norman origins.
The poet and painter William Blake lived here in 1801-4.
