Visit Yatton and the surrounding villages and stay in bed & breakfast accommodation:
Yatton, Somerset. Within an old nucleus, thickly coated with modern housing for Bristol commuters, it has a grandly austere high-naved church, famous for its beautifully panelled and vaulted 15th century, porch and, displayed in a frame, an exceptional piece of 15th century embroidery. The church also contains two unusually fine l5th century effigy-tombs.
Cadbury Hill (not the Camelot one), just to the East, is a good place for views and pictures. Excavations of an earthwork on it have produced interesting Iron-Age, Roman and Dark-Age finds.
Some 11 miles South East, Congresbury, too, has an attractive centre, an interesting basically 15th century vicarage, and one of the best church spires in Somerset.
