Shotts, North Lanarkshire. A township on the high moors 6 miles North East of Wishaw, Shotts was at one time a thriving industrial centre developed by the Shotts Iron Company. Altogether twenty-two coal pits were sunk; the last was closed in 1961, and the blast furnaces were dismantled in 1948.
The Shotts highland games have been celebrated annually for 60 years.
