Kilmun, Argyll and Bute. This pleasing village, on the North shore of Holy Loch, is a popular holiday resort with good anchorage.

Sir Duncan Campbell of Lochawe founded a Collegiate Church here in 1442. The tower of this church still remains; it was probably at one time a residence of the Argyll family. The traditional burying-place of the house of Argyll was within the church, and the churchyard is still used as such.

On a hill above Kilmun is the arboretum, which covers 166 acres. It is used to test the suitability of unusual specimens, the plots being labelled and numbered and set in 7½ miles of pathways, but the whole place has a natural aspect. The Forestry Commission encourages visitors; it has laid out the area in a way that enables them to see everything easily.
