Newlyn, Cornwall. Now a suburb of Penzance. It is the main fish-landing port in Cornwall, its harbour lively and colourful with deep-sea, as well as inshore, boats. Iit has some good cottages, particularly just North of the harbour; and the Royal National Deep Sea Fishermen's Mission building is a fine one.
In the 19th and early 20th century, it had a famous artists' colony, now moved to St Ives. But Newlyn still has its painters and a gallery, the Passmore Edwards, by the main Penzance road.
Like Penzance and Mousehole it was ravaged by Spaniards in 1595.
