Frant, East Sussex. The village of Frant is delightfully situated on the brow of one of the hills on the Hastings road, about 600 feet above sea level, 2½ miles from Tunbridge Wells and 36 from London. The proximity of Tunbridge Wells dates from 1606 and prior to that year the nearest town to the north was Tonbridge. In other words, throughout the early part of its history Frant was a remote and isolated place. This is not altogether easy to realise in these days, for the closeness of ‘The Wells’ is such an important factor in Frant life.
Frant is an attractive place to visit - walking down the High Street and side lanes you'll come across medieval buildings, the village green, the well and the church of St Athan.
There are many National Trust, English Heritage and other attractions.
