Visit Crowthorne and the surrounding villages and stay in bed & breakfast accommodation:

Crowthorne, Berkshire. is a pleasant village set amongst heathery fir-scattered country. One mile south is Wellington College, founded in the 19th century as a memorial to the Duke of Wellington.

This part of the country is remarkable for the splendid views it affords. One mile west of Crowthorne the National Trust owns 60 acres of land at Finchampstead Ridges. From here the views over Berkshire, Hampshire and Surrey, over heath, heather, woodland and the valley of the Black-water are magnificent. Nearby, the Devil's Highway, an old Roman Road, takes you to Heath pool, a further 12 acres of National Trust woodland, and there is more at Simons Wood nearby.

Down below lies the village of Finchampstead. Together with Easthampstead it is one of the oldest villages of the great Windsor Forest, which in the early 19th century covered some 59,000 acres. Finchampstead church, which sits on a platform and is enclosed by an old earthwork, is another good vantage point.

Nearby towns: Bracknell, Wokingham, Camberley, Sandhurst.

Nearby villages: Finchampstead, Eversley Cross
