Ideally located at the top of a hill in Bowness, Blenheim Lodge feels far away from the madding crowd, but is only a 5-minute walk into the centre of town, Lake Windermere and the pier. Spectacular Lake Windermere views can be seen from almost all the rooms, with one room having peaceful countryside views. One guest wrote in our guest book: 5 minutes walk to town; a million miles from nowhere!
Blenheim Lodge gently nestles against woods and fields with the Dalesway Walk just by us. (Indeed, ours is the first guest house walkers will see when coming off the Dalesway.) Lucky guests may see wild deer, pheasant and other wild life in the area. Our B&B is also located at the end of a cul de sac. Thus with such a perfect location, guests at Blenheim Lodge will be able to enjoy peace and tranquility, and not be bothered by the noise of main road traffic or people leaving the pubs or restaurants late at night or in the early hours of the morning.
Blenheim Lodge was built in 1868 and retains much of its charming character, coupled with modern facilities. Our non-smoking guest house will appeal to anyone who is looking for a relaxing break in a friendly home from home environment, that is clean, convenient, and offers excellent fresh local produce for breakfast. Many rooms are furnished with period pieces, including antique romantic four-poster and Louis XV beds, and guests will enjoy the quality bedding, luxury bath sheets and towels, as well as the individual styles of each room.
Blenheim Lodge is also known for its stunning views of Lake Windermere to the mountains beyond. The guest house enjoys some of the best Lakeland views, and Lake views, with equally pretty countryside views from the room facing the woodlands. Our guest T V lounge also enjoys fantastic Lake views, and guests are welcome to use this any time.
For guests who enjoy activities, Blenheim Lodge is ideally suited for walkers, golfers, fishermen and sailors. Indeed, with the Dalesway Walk and access to three viewpoints just behind the house, walkers taking this footpath would find it very convenient indeed. Golfing guests will find us convenient for the beautiful course at the Windermere Golf Club, just a mile from our door. In fact, Robert is our resident golf enthusiast, and the walls on the ground floor are graced by pictures of a links course. For fishermen, we can offer two FREE fishing passes on a first come first served basis with the Windermere and Ambleside District Association , and one FREE fishing pass for Esthwaite Water. Go fly or coarse fishing. Both are covered by the passes. Robert, who also fishes, will be able to tell you where is best to try your luck!
Outside the guest house, we have two taps to walk muddy boots and fish! There is also a drying room for wet or damp gear, and guests can leave their shoes and boots to dry in the guest house vestibule if they do not wish to dry them in the drying room. Private parking is available on site.
For guests who prefer to stay in Bowness, Blenheim Lodge offers FREE country club membership at a local private leisure facility. Here you can use the pool, sauna, jacuzzi, steam room, and lounge bar. There is also a gym, solarium, pool and snooker tables, squash, table tennis, and badminton. Or pamper yourself to beauty and massage treatments too!
For the romantic at heart, let us help you make your stay special. We can arrange flowers, champagne, luxury handmade chocolate truffles and even a dinner cruise on a luxury yacht!
Gift vouchers are also available, and we can help you to tailor make the voucher so that it suits the giver and receiver.
Just read what one guest wrote about us:
"We have just spent the Easter weekend at Blenheim Lodge and it was all we could have expected. We were especially after a lake view and the view from our room did not disappoint. The welcome was warm and the room was a perfect base for 3 days spent exploring the lakes. The room was clean and spacious and the view was exactly as it was described. The Lodge is a 5/10 minute walk away from the town so it is quiet yet not far from all the restaurants and shops that you could need. Did I mention the breakfast?? We did not need any lunch...... it really hit the spot. The owners genuinely had a helpful approach and nothing was too much trouble for them. If you are looking for a relaxing atmosphere and a good central location (and a proper Full English Breakfast) then I thoroughly recommend this B&B."
