Abernant, Carmarthenshire. This village stands in unspoilt and unfrequented country 5 miles North West of Carmarthen. The church, which has a few l3th century features, was practically rebuilt in 1706, and stands in a surprisingly large churchyard of over 3 acres. For some unknown reason, Abernant became a sought-after place of burial over a wide area of South Wales. Bodies were interred here from parishes in remote Cardiganshire and Pembrokeshire. The countryside a little further North, especially around Talog, is a pastoral land of wooded hills and small trout streams, off the beaten track.
